Become a Volunteer!!!
Founded in 1906, by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the NYA has been an outreach-oriented agency, serving youth and families for 100 years. Currently, NYA has directed its program emphasis toward prevention and early intervention, and serves at-risk youth in the Mar Vista and Venice/Oakwood communities.
Personal Best is our innovative educational enrichment program designed to address all aspects of a child's life that are crucial for life-long success. Through a comprehensive set of components featuring educational enhancement, counseling support, career planning, and recreational activities, Personal Best serves youth between the ages of 2 through 18.
Personal Best provides NYA with an unprecedented opportunity to offer volunteers experience working with children in a variety of activities. Each component will need volunteers to assist with program activities to help ensure that our youth achieve their Personal Best!
All four components need volunteers for:
- Tutoring and academic support
- Providing small group instruction and assistance for various types of workshops.
- Providing assistance and supervision with activities, field trips, and special planned events.
- Guest speakers for employment, career opportunity, and workshops.
